Cleansing a Negative Mind Stream

Note from Professor
Chronicled by Katherine in 2008

Our lives are filled with things we don’t want—things outside our expectations. We hold these tough experiences in our memories and in our hearts. We may be dealing with a bad marriage, unruly children, or an aging parent. Regardless of the source of our troubles, the question is how we can get rid of the traces of the trauma. We say we will forget and move forward. It is easy to say, but difficult to do. How do we cleanse our negative mind stream? For, it is an obstacle to our practice of life and Feng Shui.

Once you cleanse the mind-stream, the memories will be only memories and nothing more. They will not become the obstacle of negative karma.

Here is a method you can use. Follow the instructions with all your might. Let yourself fully feel the emotions.

  • Think back. Think of the saddest moments of your life. If the memory brings tears, let them flow. Sob if you need to. Do not try to control the tears, the sobs, or the emotion. Cry out loud if need be.
  • Do not think that you are so perfect that you have nothing to cry about. We all have negative karma. Dig deep. Take your time. Do whatever it takes to let the emotions show—to let them go.
  • Now, recite:

Om Ma Ni Pad Me HUM. The Hum syllable is loud, strong, and short.

Visualize that the sound will uproot all your sufferings, all your negative karma. It no longer lives inside you. The memories remain as traces, but there is no longer suffering.

Repeat until you feel cleansed. (9 times may just be a beginning.)
