Some students have read that a man should sleep on the left side of the bed and the woman on the right. Others have heard the opposite. The question was asked of Professor, “Which is it?”

Professor’s answer speaks to his ability to answer a question with wisdom, humor, and always an admonition to follow the chi.

“From the perspective of Black Sect Feng Shui, there is no rule. There is only the perspective of chi.”

From this perspective Professor Lin gave the following answer:

a. Men are physically stronger than women.

b. Women have great wisdom and good hearts.

c. Danger is likely to enter the sleeping room through the mouth of chi – the door. Therefore, the man, who is physically stronger, should sleep on the side of the bed that is close to the door. He then becomes the “first line of defense.” If the man is hurt while defending both, the woman, with her wisdom and good heart, will know what to do next.
