OUR SCHOLARLY RABBIT

Our dear Professor was known for turning things upside down. I have spoken of this often, but have never shared this wisdom in a public class. It is time, in this Year of the Rabbit, to speak about Professor’s ability to:

• Turn a question on its head
• Look with eyes closed, and truly see difficult design details
• See through our mundane thoughts about yin and yang
• Change our mind about good and bad
• Give “too much” when needed
• Understand when and how an advantage becomes a distress
• Turn criticism into insight
• Transform confusion into clarity and simplicity
• See a bad omen as a bit of good luck
• Convince us that science is catching up with the transcendental – not the other way around

The teaching is in the form of stories – his, mine, and the stories of our experiences in class and traveling together. I think our most important Black Sect teachings came in the form of watching His Holiness practice his artistry in the service of others. He was always focused, precise, and surprising.

You have so much knowledge. It is time to experience your craft through the eyes of an artist. I treasure this as my most precious gift from H.H. Grandmaster Professor Lin Yun Rinpoche.
