Our sacred teachings are rooted in the science of the I Ching, and are brilliantly illuminated in each of the eight trigrams. On this Valentine’s Day, love is in the air, and we can look to Partnership in our Later Heaven Ba-gua for insight and support.
The trigram Earth rests there, and we are guided to cultivate acceptance and empathy; to embrace friendship, sustenance, serenity, and stability. Yet, there is more here to inform our relationships.
If you look through the transparency of the Partnership gua to the Former Heaven Ba-gua just beyond, you will find the trigram Wind. It is resting there, waiting for you to step into the realm of the universal and archetypal.
As you adjust your focus, shifting your attention to the background of the spiritual landscape in the Former Heaven sequence, you will find the following universal attributes of Wind:
- A slow, gentle, and relaxed approach to new things
- A cautious, yet deliberate, resolve to remain open
- A slow, but steady, course through implacable obstacles (like tree roots moving through soil and stone)
- Steadfast patience moving through challenging times
- An unwavering flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
Wind is asking us to allow these qualities to penetrate our awareness as we stand in relationship to others.
We are also reminded that there is a shadow side to both Earth and Wind.
Earth, out of balance, can exploit.
Wind, out of balance, is susceptible to compulsion.
What do you wish to change or enhance on this Valentine’s Day as you view the wisdom of Wind through the translucence of Partnership in our Later Heaven Ba-gua?
