Anti-homeless spikes!

We have a variation of these spikes in San Francisco – on some of our civic buildings! I walked by these buildings every day. Then. one day, there was a big pillow sitting on the spiked ledge. The next day, another pillow. Then, another. The next day, people sitting on the newly created soft spots. My heart leaped for joy. I leaped for joy. What had been a city block of distain and inhumanity, had become a gathering place for lunch and conversation for everyone.

There are moments every day when we can make a difference!

Here is a follow-up comment from Kathleen, the person who brought this article to our attention:

“It is heartening to see people reaching out to soften the barbs of hostility. May we humans keep making many, many more deepening changes to keep the momentum of kindness.”
