1. Placing the Ba-gua can be challenging. Both choices tell you that something is out of balance—something that has to do with family relationships.
  2. The dining table is very close to the front door suggesting a loss of family and friends. As a child, our young mother was alone and afraid.
  3. You can see the stove from the front door! The problems of fighting and control have continued into adulthood for our young mother.
  4. The two large fireplaces add more fuel to the fire, escalating anger to rage.
  5. The parent’s bed is out of command, and they are out of control.
  6. The door to the parent’s bedroom, and to their daughter’s childhood bedroom, are missing in the drawing (but do actually exist). The parent’s bedroom door was also drawn out of all proportion to the room. The drawing led me to believe that boundaries have been crossed. Seeing the drawing and the doorways was the point at which I knew something was very wrong.
  7. There are no windows drawn anywhere in the house! What happened to the voice of the child?
  8. Then there is the “boot.” The powerful “ankle” of the “boot” is weakened by the location of the master bathroom. The flexibility needed for change is not available.
  9. Our young mother and her daughter live in the toe of the “boot.” As a child, our mother lived in the “heel” of the boot. It is no wonder that being kicked to the curb followed her into adulthood.
