Selecting the Pantone color of the year is a big deal. Each year Pantone gathers a color committee that meets in secret twice over the course of the 12 months. The colourists pitch palette concepts, debate colour-related trends gathered from experts around the world – and ultimately pick which hue will be the new black.
This year’s choice is called “Marsala”. Pantone describes their choice as:
Sensual and bold, delicious Marsala is a daringly inviting tone that nurtures; exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind and soul. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
