I have been watching the events unfold in Baltimore. Every now and then the media shine their spotlight on the wise citizens of Baltimore who show up to bring peace to their community. As I watch, I can hear Professor’s words of wisdom . . .
Learn to “tolerate” your anger. Be with it wisely. Don’t do something you regret when angry. Try the following before you find yourself cussing, scolding, or hitting . . .
Play the piano. Play music.
Sing, especially if you want to scold someone.
Do something different in the moment.
Create a cultural happening in a distressed area.
This is what I saw yesterday and today, and I was thrilled to see and hear the following . . .
Folks rollerskating in circles
(Remember, circles have no rough edges. The chi is smooth)
A brass band playing music on a street corner in the middle of the crowd
The Baltimore symphony playing a free concert
Lots of singing and chanting
I was so happy to see the natural wisdom come forth in the midst of chaos. Let’s put the media on notice. We want to see more of the goodness of the citizenry every day and every where.
