DIVINATION—A POETIC PARTICIPATION IN LIFE

How do I begin to explain the importance of divination as a powerful tool for the Black Sect practitioner? Perhaps with what divination is not. As I see it, none of the following dictionary definitions are helpful.

• “The art of trying to foretell the future”
• “A successful or clever guess”
• “To conjecture with supernatural aid”
• “A feeling of foreboding about something that is going to happen”

Each one misses the point, and is even misleading. The future is not the focus. Each and every divination we explore in this Case File will address the potential and power of the moment—the present field of awareness. It is the skill of the diviner that will expand this field and offer insights that rest beyond our everyday thoughts.

The emphasis in this Case File is learning the skills. It will be your spiritual cultivation that insures your precision and success. Practice will further enhance this cultivation and strengthen your ability to offer wise counsel.
