Professor often reminded us to see “through” a design detail to uncover an imbalance in the chi – in this case to think carefully about something that is not as it seems.
- If a kitchen is very large (and out of proportion with the house), and is not used to welcome friends and family to dinner, then the show of wealth is merely ostentatious. The chi is out of balance.
- If a foyer is very large (and out of proportion with the small size of the rest of the house), then the show of grandeur is just that—a show. The chi is out of balance.
In both cases, if you use your wealth and all that it can buy to help others, then all is well.
Note:
In the Diamond Cutter, this imbalance is called “creating a false impression.” The results can be:
- Trouble establishing credibility
- A lack of cooperation
- Difficulty getting straight answers
- Not being believed
- Encountering deception and dishonesty
If someone is dealing with one or more of the above, we can look to the house and make needed adjustments. We are very much in sync with the wisdom in The Diamond Cutter.
