Navigating The Winds and Waters of Teaching

Not for Mere Mortals
Comments by Professor

Professor took a few minutes to review the story and floor plan of the house built byArakawa called Bioscleave House (Lifespan Extending Villa). Here are his comments:

  • Notice that the bathroom is as big or bigger than the bedroom. This is not good, and over time the occupants of the bedroom will experience stomach problems.
  • The study could be bigger, even bigger than the bedroom. This would be good.
  • The proportions, room to room, are off.
  • The kitchen is in the center, so beware of fire, accidents and other unexpected mishaps. Avoid this design detail, and also avoid a stairway in the center. You will avoid heart problems.
  • I asked Professor about the architect’s intention – to make people use their bodies in unexpected ways to maintain equilibrium. What are the consequences of this intention? How long before consequences may arise, and will the effects be as expected?
  • Professor answered:
    • For those with weak ch’i, the negative consequences will appear within two to three months.
    • Even for those with strong ch’i, it will only be nine months before the negative consequences take hold.
  • I asked Professor about how to proceed as a practitioner, with or without seeing this house in person.
  • Professor made these comments:
    • Tell the owners that there is a mundane and a transcendental side to this Feng Shui reading. On the mundane side, the design deserves praise. It is a good design.
    • On the transcendental side, there is a different interpretation (as described above).
    • Deep inside our hearts, we know why the home won awards. The judges did not know much about Feng Shui.
    • Katherine, write an article for the newspaper and let everyone know that we should all know more about Feng Shui.

Note from Katherine:

I extend this invitation (and admonition) to all of you.

Step Back

Step Back

An Experiment

Dr. Lien Nguyen had the following discussion with Professor during a New York workshop. She was relaying questions from a woman who was designing an Attention Deficit Disorder study to be undertaken and supervised by the Children’s Hospital in Cleveland. The plans for the study were to be presented for funding to the National Institute of Health at a conference for alternative medicine at Harvard the following month.

It seems that children struggling with ADD often have trouble sleeping, and, thus, their daytime behavior is affected. This study was meant to measure the brain waves of these children during sleep while sleeping in their own bed with an “appropriate” Feng Shui adjustment. The children would be monitored for a period of two weeks.

I am asking you to step back and ask yourself what you might say to the woman who is designing the study. Review your previous modules. What will you choose to offer that will give an answer that is “complete?” We have many categories and tools from which to choose. Give this a good old-fashioned college try. Make your list. On the 28th day of this module, I will post Professor’s full answer in Clue Review. Here is what I wrote to end that conversation, and you will see this again on the 28th day at the end of the full conversation. I hope it will help you to move beyond what you are thinking at this moment.

Professor emphasized that we must look at chi from many different perspectives to offer the most effective assistance. Our job is more than moving the furniture, and requires of us a degree of cultivation that allows us to answer a simple question with a level of mastery that understands that life is complex. We must see the yin of the yang, and know that there are reasons and solutions beyond our rational understanding.

Answering one question, he guided us to review and understand clearly his Theory of Multiple Causes. He, once again, taught us concepts that stretch our thinking and our beliefs. He gave us an answer to the exact question, but did not get caught in limited thinking. He deepened our wisdom, and gave us the gift of moving beyond our thoughts and ourselves.

It is time to stand in Professor’s shoes and come forth with your most complete answer. However, don’t be surprised. Professor offered something new to add to our lists. It is a great reminder that there is always more to learn.

The question was, “How do we best adjust the Feng Shui for this experiment, and what can we do with our knowledge to receive funding?”

Professor asked the following question:

Are you asking for a method to get the funds for the study?

The answer was:

We need to obtain the funding, but we also want to help the children.

Professor continued:

From the perspective of Black Sect Buddhism, we want to use alternative medicine to help the children. We do not want to simply use our knowledge to obtain the funding.

We must first establish an important concept. If they adjust the Feng Shui alone, they can help. However, that is not enough. They must look at chi!

There are many levels here:

  • We associate children’s chi with action and activity, and we consider that good. If their chi is stagnant, we consider it abnormal, weak, and an indication that the child may not be healthy and may not live long.
  • From an adult point of view, a child can be too active. Some adults believe that children should always listen carefully, obey all rules, and behave as prescribed by the parent.
  • From a child’s perspective, it is perfectly normal and ordinary to “jump around in front of visitors.”
  • It is important for an adult to offer guidance, but, it is also important for an adult to understand normal chi. This may be a problem for some parents, and must be considered as an issue for parents, not necessarily the children.
  • However, if a child is so active that he or she cannot sleep, or is placing life at risk by jumping up and down from high places1, two things must be considered.
    • On a mundane level, there may be a physical illness.
    • On a transcendental level, there may be a previous life consideration. For instance:
      • Mundanely, Autism may be classified as an illness. The same might be true of Down’s Syndrome.
    • From a transcendental point of view, one may consider that the symptoms result from a previous existence in another of the Six Realms. In this case, it may be the Animal realm. For instance:
      • In the case of Down’s Syndrome, the life may have been that of a timid animal. The chi of the child may still carry the frequency of that animal.

Here, Professor gave other examples of behavioral clues to previous lifetimes in the Six Realms. For instance:

  • Someone from the realm of Heaven may look like Buddha or Quan Yin—looking like a god or goddess. He or she may be compassionate, sympathetic, and offer help to others in need even if there are no resources. Those from Heaven may “light themselves to offer heat.”
  • A person from the realm of Jealous Gods may be passionate about helping, but be very jealous at the same time.
  • From the Human Realm, a girl may carry the frequency of a man; or, a man may carry the frequency of a woman—acting in a feminine fashion. A woman may act like a General, in the male warrior sense of the word. Homosexuals may carry the frequency of the opposite sex from a previous human lifetime.
    • A person may walk a crooked line, and this may be a clue that the previous life was lived as a snake in the Animal Realm. Some people may walk like a duck. Hence, the term “duck walk.”
    • Someone from the realm of Hungary Ghosts may always want more.
    • Those from the Hell Realm may love to go around and against normal moral and legal standards. This may happen again and again, even if one is punished.

It is, therefore, important to analyze the chi of a child at risk. The child may need something other than a Feng Shui adjustment. Under some circumstances the child may require:

  • A chi transfusion
    • And/or
  • 9 pots of plants in the bedroom
    • And/or
  • The Flower Cure
    • And/or
  • An understanding of the karmic relationship with the parents. For instance:
    • The child may have come to collect a debt, and may behave in difficult ways that create a lot of trouble.
    • The child may need to repay a debt, so the child is a joy, easy to care for and healthy, living a good and successful life.
  • There is a poem that describes this karma. The English translation leaves something to be desired, but here it is.

Husband and wife relationships are fate pre-destined,
Some mutually beneficial,
Others jointly destructive,
Reciprocity of karma, good and bad.

Sons and daughters are previous obligations manifested,
Either debtors paying back,
Or creditors laying claim,
Settling old debts, that’s why they came.

So, it is important to recognize what category best describes a child. Does an active child belong to the category of:

  • strong chi in this lifetime?
  • previous lifetime chi that represents the chi of another realm?
  • relationship chi, or karma with the parent?

Or

  • flaws in the Feng Shui in this lifetime?

There are many ways to cultivate chi, and the appropriate method must be chosen to help a child based upon the reasons for a child’s behavior. For instance:

  • Self force, such as meditation
  • Spiritual force, such as using the natural force of the sun and the moon in the Sunshine Buddha Exercise; or praying in church.
  • A chi transfusion from a qualified guru
  • Adjusting one’s Feng Shui
  • Others

Professor commented that Lien’s question was, in essence, about Feng Shui, and he responded with some Feng Shui adjustments that might be employed for the study.

  • In the child’s room:
    • Tone down the light in the room.
    • Use color, specifically light brown, gray, dark purple, deep red, or green. Keep the colors “mild.”
    • Add 9 pots of plants and perform the Flower Cure (for 27 days).
    • Use the sense of touch, placing something that feels different and will be felt throughout the day. It may wake up the ch’i of the child.
    • Play mellow music constantly.
    • Play gentle chanting in the background.
    • Create something, that when touched, will create a sound. The sound may actually calm the child.
  • In the parent’s room:
    • Use any of the above, especially calm and gentle sound.
    • Once again, it comes back to the parents.
  • Both the child and the parents may benefit from a crystal infused with the Great Compassion Mantra.

At the same time, Professor reminded all of us to recognize that these Feng Shui adjustments may not solve the problem. He emphasized that we must look at the chi from many different perspectives to offer the most effective assistance. Our job is more than moving the furniture, and requires of us a degree of cultivation that allows us to answer a simple question with a
level of mastery that understands that life is complex.

It was, indeed, a special moment in time.

A Note from Katherine:

I spoke with the woman later, as we agreed to lend her our Magnetic Field Protocol for the study. At that time, she had not decided what Feng Shui adjustment to employ for the study. I did ask her the following question:

With all of Professor’s suggestions, would she consider using her expertise and inspiration to make the “appropriate” adjustments, and use the appropriate chi cultivation methods for each child (even if they are different for each child)?

Her answer was that this approach would not lend itself to a scientific study, and I am sure that she is correct. However, if she could make a difference in the life of a group of children using her knowledge and inspiration, would not the medical community take notice? Perhaps funding would then be easier to get.

It seems time to use our knowledge and show the world that life holds many options for healing. Science will catch up.

Echoes

Clue Review

Echoes (1999 – 2001) Professor’s Side Door Wisdom Module 31

During a workshop, Professor took a look at the office of the owner of the building in which the class took place. The building houses a technical institute, a school for young, hip, and innovative techies. Here are Professor’s answers to the questions asked in The Facts, Just the Facts.

1. The owner’s desk faces the main door of his office and the main door of the building. However, since the parking lot is in back of the building, 99% of the traffic comes in the back door of the building (entering behind the owner). Professor suggested the following:
– Place the Ten Coins close to the back door for “weight and control.”

2. There was an impala head on the wall in knowledge. Professor said that in China, the impala is considered part of the deer family. If the owner dots the head with the cinnabar mixture, the head will bring the same good luck as the deer and an “elevation of position.”
– There was also a wild boar over the main door of the office. Once again, Professor suggested that the owner dot the head with the cinnabar mixture. He said that then “the boar will have the power to protect you.” He added, “A tiger would have been very powerful.”

3. The owner’s desk was placed in front of a large window, with the owner’s back to the window. Professor suggested the following:
– Place 9 pots of plants on the windowsill behind the desk.

They will provide vitality, and protection from behind (just like an armchair).
They also represent springtime, and will send you in the direction of helping bring hope to our youth. If the plants blossom, you will add the yang quality to their future and yours.

Thank you Dear Professor from each and every one of us.

Gone

Below you will find notes from a student who, years ago, tackled this floor plan as a mentoring student working on a homework assignment. Please review her notes with the same enthusiasm she wrote them.

What will you add? What questions do you have about her comments? Read carefully. Pay attention to the details. The learning is in the details of this review.

She laid out a great framework. How will you construct a framework that works for you?

Remember that you have the extra clue you found in the name and image of this module. She had only the information on the floor plan. How will you use these extra clues as you read through these notes?

We can talk about all of this during our Press Conference calls.

Notes From a Former Mentoring Student:

Assignment:

List what needs adjustment and how to present the information to the client.

Issue:

Some struggle here after moving from another state

Money, especially.

Note:

Sealing the doors has already been done.

Client is an affiliate.

House Shape:

Cleaver

Missing career, helpful people some Creativity – front door / slant is in the center

External Adjustment Information for the client
1. House Cleaver shaped and the house next door is cleaver to cleaver Fill rectangle to complete the shape. Place light at point of sidewalk shining up at the highest point of the house Portends conflict.
2. Missing guas – career, helpful people and health Activate the missing guas by placing any minor cures. Place a wind chime in the carport with the trellis. Add lighting, sound, color of the missing guas or any minor cures to achieve this effect.
3. Building below road – Place a weather vane to symbolically lift the house to street level

– Place crystals or wind chimes on all corners

– Place a fish tank to uplift the chi in a position where it will be seen by al

– Consider three flute cure

This detail creates the feeling of an “uphill’ trek; life can be difficult, with time, energy and money lost.
4. Where is the hot tub? Is it positioned to deplete or enhance the property?
5. Path to the front door narrow? And from the front door!!! Widen it with lights, or flowers (pastels), or wear red Can deplete the chi.
6. Neighbor’s home two story vs. the client’s one story Place Bagua mirror on side of house facing taller building to protect the house and reflect back overshadow and oppressive influence.

Or place concave mirror same – this turns the oppressive energy upside down to eliminate the neg. effect

Or place a flat or concave mirror on the roof of the smaller building to “flatten” the effect of the tall building.

This detail can deplete chi, personal growth stifled, careers disintegrate. Overwhelm.
7. Is the house too close to the road? (<1/2 width)?  (Front or back) If so place a fountain or flood light, or weather vane or wind chimes between the house and the road.
Front door – Imbalance
8. Hidden front door Shine a light at the top of the hidden door with light placed on the ground in front of the door.

Or hang wind chime at front door

–          Carefully mark the path to the front door.

I would also suggest placing a convex mirror at a point of the path to “see” the door from the front walk and vice versa.

Can create conditions that isolate family members, decrease opportunities, loss of clientele, income, motivation, and increases frustration, lethargy and depression.
9. Front door When walking out of the front door – the view is the back of the carport. This area may be dark Brighten it up and add something fun and artistic to view on the back of the car port!
10. Carport Consider placing a fountain on the lawn behind the carport to improve the career flow.

Contributes to the hidden front door. Can create instability (car coming in and out) in career area.
11. Slanted front door Place a crystal ball hung on red string on the ceiling inside the front door – and outside, if that’s available. Can create why a family is constantly dealing with unexpected situations.
Interior details
12. Kitchen – outside the Bagua Place mirror on living room wall/ back yard to pull the kitchen back into the house Can mean someone in the house will be eating outside the home.
13. Slanted walls in kitchen Hang mirror on slanted wall Can create imbalance, instability. In the yin position, this detail appears in the health gua.
14. Piercing heart doors (garage, garage entry, kitchen, slider) Hang crystals on red string (9”, 18, etc”) or wind chimes between each door to slow the chi This design detail can portend health issues (particularly in the mid section of the body e.g. heart). Can also create discordant points of view creating conflict, etc.

A line of chi enters thru the garage and leaving thru the slider and potentially creating an unstable and depleting condition. Goal, slow down the chi!

15. Galley kitchen / walk thru kitchen(stove between two doors) Place a wind chime at each door (inside the kitchen)

I would also suggest placing a bell on the garage/kitchen door to alert the cook of someone coming/going.

Pulls chi of stove (wealth, etc.) creating negative situations, i.e. Difficulty holding on to $$$.
16. One of the “galley” doors leads to the garage. Place healthy plants in kitchen or flute placed horizontally over the doorway Concern: fumes, em’s, threat to health, safety and $$$
17. Cook not in command Place a mirror over stove for the cook to see behind.
18. Arguing doors in the kitchen Arguing door cure. Can potentate arguing, conflict within partnership.
19. Stove is across from sink Hang a crystal between stove and sink Elemental conflict (fire/water) plus dangerous placement in a walk thru door design plan.
20. Empty door in kitchen Consider hanging a bamboo curtain there To slow down the chi
21. Fireplace on a slant in the living room – partnership gua To cure this – place 9 potted plants around the FP and a mirror over the fire place Could create too much heat in the partnership
22. Slanted walls in Office Hang mirror on slanted wall Can create imbalance, instability. In the yin position, this detail appears in the health gua.
23. Office – Is the desk in commanding position If not, adjust it!!!
24. Office, Bedroom and Bathroom on the Cleaver edge Hang a mirror in the Living room/ dining room to pull these rooms off the cleaver edge. Can potentate discord.
25. Too many doors in a small space (bedroom / bath hall) Hang a crystal ball in the center of the space or camouflage the doors. Can create conflict, difficult to listen, too many voices
26. Narrow, twisting path to bedroom. ? Lighting Check lighting and add wind chime here.
27. Sharp chi in this space too Round the edges
28. Linen closet doors open out Hang a crystal there Potentially siphoning the chi in the small space
29. How is the bed placed? Adjust as needed
30. Bedroom – line of chi from bedroom door to window in wealth gua Hang a crystal in the window; place a wind chime or a lush plant to keep the chi from “going out the window” and activating the wealth gua.
31. Bathroom in partnership (yin) 32. Can see toilet upon entry. Tub is in wealth gua –

33. Hang crystal in center of the bathroom. Keep door closed.

34. Depleting design for creativity.
35. Garage – in the Knowledge area 36. Place a  large wind chime, crystal or wind chime/crystal in the center of the garage 37. The garage is a yin space. To improve the flow of chi and activate the gua, hang a crystal.

How to present this to the client:

Since the client is a Feng Shui student enrolled in the affiliate program, I would assume the client has a great deal of FS knowledge.

However, based upon the question posed, I’d take the process slowly.

Ask questions:

The issue that is presented is “some struggle after moving from another state – money especially”. I’d want to know what the struggle was. How is it different between then and now?

I’d want to know about the predecessor chi. Any physical health issues? And, of course, why the move and why was sealing the doors done? (I’m assuming the slanted front door?). I might recommend placing Buddha firecrackers over the front door to further positively affect the well being of the family.

Also, I’d ask if the client has performed an Exterior chi adjustment (walk the perimeter of the property with cinnabar rice – 1st throw the rice upward to feed the hungry ghosts, then walk the property again using the seeding mantra – visualize seeding the intention, planting auspicious chi, etc., then throw a handful of rice up to the sky – asking for heavens blessing) and an Interior Chi adjustment (orange peels – 9 oranges, 9 rounds each, break up rounds, sprinkle around the perimeter of the house, similar to the exterior chi adjustment).

Review:

I’d review the aspects that would potentate struggle and struggle with money. The Feng Shui of the complex matters.

I’d review the elements that may be contributing to the struggle and depleting the $$$ and how to lift and smooth the chi to end the struggle and stop any leaks.

The building seems to be sitting lower that the street level

  • The neighbor’s home is 2 story (overpowering) and sharing the cleaver edge with the client.
  • The hidden door – how the chi flows from the secondary road and up to the front door and the details that could be adjusted there
  • The office, bathroom and bedroom is located on the cleaver edge (conflict and struggle)
  • The kitchen and garage are outside the front door.
  • The kitchen is a galley kitchen that can negatively impact wealth.
  • There are piercing heart doors.
  • Activate the wealth gua in each room!!!
  • Place crystals/wind chimes using the “enhancing the eight trigram positions” – walk into each trigram with the sacred object. Either spin the crystal ball or ring the chimes in each gua. Reinforce with 3 secrets. Chant Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum 108 x’s. Visualized in with the good and out with the bad.
  • If adjustments have already been hung, use sun/moon mirror to shine at chime/ crystal ball and visualize the entire process.

Suggest Meditations:

I’d encourage the client to practice:

  • Six Stage Chi meditation (inhale/exhale breathing) to cultivate smooth chi, improve luck and well being. To enhance clarity and knowledge and to aid in the transition of the move to the new space.
  • Supreme Yogas – to better understand and handle money issues.
  • Sunshine Buddha to release any pressure the client may be feeling.
  • Shrinking the Earth and Expanding the House – to see the financial situation in a balanced way.
  • Use the sun/moon mirror to adjust still water – enhance wisdom and clarity – for 27 days – wipe the sun moon mirror 9 or 27 x/s per day on both sides with a new white cloth. Ask that the still water be adjusted. Reinforce with the three secrets. After 27 days, place mirror under mattress.
  • Consider using 9 Grains of Rice cure to eliminate bad luck, etc.

Suggest Methods:

Prepare or use blessed cinnabar rice. Place one grain of cinnabar rice in each trigram position under the mattress. (Total 9 grains). Reinforce with 3 secrets.

Then walk the house and trace the 9 stars.

The Good Luck Project – Part 2

You will find a number of clues on the plan that speak to the following troubles.

Partnership problems, conflict, illness, and obstacles

Can you break down your list into these categories? For instance:

  • Partnership: detached garage in Partnership
  • Conflict: one split after another
  • Illness: bathroom at the end of a hallway (with a split as you enter)
  • Obstacles: blocking wall at the entry

Complete your list using these categories. If you have any questions about what you see, please ask during a Press Conference Call.

However, most importantly, how will you share what you see with a woman who was beaten repeatedly by her husband over many years, and is so very happy to be on her own in her new space? She has chosen a home that carries some of the same patterns.

Can you find the chi, the cures, and the words to be of service?
